Top Reasons to Choose Murdoch University Dubai in 2026-27

Choosing a university abroad involves more than comparing course names and tuition fees. Students also need to consider accreditation, teaching quality, facilities, scholarships, location and the overall learning environment. Murdoch University Dubai offers an opportunity to study an Australian university programme while remaining in the UAE.

Murdoch University Dubai is the Dubai campus of Murdoch University, an Australian university based in Perth, Western Australia. The campus has operated in Dubai since 2008 and moved to Dubai Knowledge Park in 2020. It offers foundation, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate study options across several disciplines.

For students considering Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, the university’s Australian connection, recognised programmes, expanding campus facilities, scholarship opportunities and multicultural environment are some of the key factors worth exploring.

Why Consider Murdoch University Dubai in 2026-27?

Murdoch University Dubai combines an Australian university experience with the convenience of studying in Dubai. Its programmes are delivered through the Dubai campus while the university maintains its connection with its Perth-based home campus.

The university’s Dubai campus is licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), while its programmes have received recognition and accreditation through the UAE’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The campus is also regulated by Australia’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).

Students therefore have several factors to evaluate when considering Murdoch University Dubai:

- Australian university affiliation

- Government-regulated and accredited programmes

- Undergraduate and postgraduate study options

- Modern teaching and learning facilities

- Scholarship opportunities

- Flexible study structures

- Multicultural campus environment

- Location within Dubai Knowledge Park

These features can make the university worth considering alongside other Dubai-based institutions.

Australian University Education in Dubai

One of the main reasons students consider Murdoch University Dubai is its connection with Murdoch University in Australia.

Murdoch University is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, and the Dubai campus operates as an international campus of the university. The university describes Murdoch Dubai as a fully integrated branch campus.

For students interested in earning an Australian university qualification without studying in Australia, this structure can provide an alternative pathway.

The university also maintains international connections across its campuses and partnerships. Murdoch University’s official information describes Dubai as one of its international locations, with programmes ranging from foundation and diploma pathways to undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Recognised and Accredited Programmes

Accreditation is an important factor when choosing an international university.

Murdoch University Dubai is licensed by KHDA, while its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have been accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation under the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The university also states that its programmes are regulated by TEQSA in Australia.

This regulatory framework is relevant for students who want to understand how their qualification is recognised in the UAE and connected to Australia’s higher education system.

Murdoch University Dubai also received a 5-Star rating in the 2022 KHDA Higher Education Classification. The rating covered areas including employability, internationalisation, programme strength, facilities, happiness and wellbeing, and inclusiveness.

Students should still check the accreditation and recognition status of their specific programme before applying, particularly if they intend to use the qualification for professional registration or further study.

Modern Campus and Learning Facilities

Murdoch University Dubai is located in Dubai Knowledge Park, a purpose-built education and training hub.

The university’s Dubai campus currently covers approximately 2,500 square metres across two levels. The university has also stated that the campus will expand to almost 4,000 square metres in 2026, adding teaching, learning and research facilities.

The campus includes facilities designed to support different areas of study and student interaction. These include dedicated cybersecurity and gaming laboratories, custom-built IT systems, education-focused furniture and collaborative breakout spaces.

For students choosing a technology-related programme, access to dedicated technical facilities can be an important consideration.

Dedicated Cybersecurity and Gaming Labs

Murdoch University Dubai specifically highlights its cybersecurity and gaming labs as part of its campus facilities. These spaces include custom-built IT systems intended to support teaching, learning and practical activities.

Students interested in information technology and related areas can therefore examine the available facilities alongside the curriculum when comparing universities.

Wide Range of Study Options

Another reason to consider Murdoch University Dubai is the range of academic pathways available.

The Dubai campus offers foundation and diploma pathways as well as undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Study areas include business, communication, criminology, information technology, education and psychology.

The available programmes can change over time, so applicants should check the current course list and entry requirements before submitting an application.

Undergraduate Programmes

Murdoch University Dubai offers undergraduate programmes across areas such as business and information technology.

The university states that its undergraduate degrees follow the same course structure and academic integrity as programmes at its home campus in Perth. Students may also have the option of choosing double majors in eligible programmes without an additional course duration or fee, subject to the applicable programme structure.

This can give undergraduate students additional flexibility when planning their academic pathway.

Postgraduate Programmes

Postgraduate options are also available at the Dubai campus.

The university’s current course information lists postgraduate programmes including the Master of Education, Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Science in Information Technology, Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management and Master of Counselling.

Students should review the specific curriculum, duration, admission requirements and available majors for their preferred programme before applying.

Scholarship Opportunities for Students

Scholarships can be an important consideration when comparing universities and overall study costs.

Murdoch University Dubai currently offers Academic Merit Scholarships ranging from approximately 15% to 40% of total tuition fees for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students, depending on previous academic performance. The university states that eligible applicants are assessed for these scholarships.

There are also additional scholarship and discount opportunities, including an MBA scholarship and certain early-bird or partner-related discounts.

However, students should understand that university scholarships generally reduce tuition fees rather than cover the complete cost of studying abroad. Murdoch University’s scholarship terms state that scholarships do not cover living expenses, accommodation, transport, health cover or student visa costs.

Because scholarship criteria and offers can change, students should verify the current conditions for their intake before making financial plans.

Flexible Study Options

Flexibility can be useful for students who have different academic and personal requirements.

Murdoch University Dubai states that undergraduate and postgraduate students have flexibility in choosing their study load, subject to the requirements of their programme. The number of units taken in a trimester can influence the overall duration of study.

This approach may be useful for students who want to plan their academic workload according to their circumstances.

However, students should check whether a particular course permits different study loads and whether changing the study pattern affects progression, fees or other academic requirements.

A Multicultural Learning Environment

Studying in Dubai can expose students to a diverse international community.

Murdoch University describes its Dubai campus as having a multicultural student body, with students and faculty connected to different countries and regions. The university has reported more than 1,000 students and faculty members representing 14 countries in its Dubai community, while its 2025 information records 1,573 students at the campus.

A diverse campus can give students opportunities to interact with classmates from different cultural and academic backgrounds.

This experience can also be useful for students who want to develop communication, collaboration and cross-cultural skills alongside their academic studies.

Location at Dubai Knowledge Park

Location is another practical factor when comparing universities in Dubai.

Murdoch University Dubai is located in Dubai Knowledge Park, an education-focused area that hosts universities, training organisations and other education-related institutions. The university moved to Dubai Knowledge Park from Dubai International Academic City in 2020.

For students, studying in an education hub can provide access to a broader student community and an environment focused on learning and professional development.

When choosing accommodation, students should also consider travel time, public transport access, rent, food costs and other living expenses rather than looking at university location alone.

What Should Students Consider Before Applying?

Murdoch University Dubai offers several features that may appeal to international students, but applicants should compare the university with other options before making a final decision.

Consider the following:

- Course content: Check whether the curriculum matches your academic and career goals.

- Entry requirements: Review the latest academic and English-language requirements for your chosen programme.

- Accreditation: Confirm the recognition and accreditation applicable to your specific qualification.

- Total study budget: Consider tuition, accommodation, transport, food, insurance and other expenses.

- Scholarships: Check your eligibility and the conditions attached to any scholarship or discount.

- Location: Compare accommodation options and commuting time.

- Career plans: Research relevant employment opportunities and any professional requirements associated with your intended career.

- Future study: If you plan to pursue another qualification later, check whether the programme meets the requirements of your intended institution.

A university should be selected based on how well its programme, costs, learning environment and long-term academic plans match your individual circumstances.
